Tiki Lamp – 3D Printed Polynesian Tiki Bedside Lamp

The story behind the Tiki Lamp

Tiki carvings have been part of Polynesian culture for centuries — wooden and stone figures carved to honor ancestors and to stand guard over homes and gathering places. Decades later, their bold faces found a second life in the retro tiki bars of the 1950s, where carved masks, tropical drinks and warm, glowing lanterns became a whole mood of their own.

The Tiki Lamp started as a sketch from an independent 3D artist who wanted to capture that feeling in something you could keep on your nightstand. Instead of carving wood, every ridge, eye and grin is built up layer by layer on a 3D printer, so the light glows through the thin parts of the shade and throws the carved details into soft relief.

Two faces came out of that process: the Stern tiki, a nod to the traditional guardian figures, and the Smile tiki, the easy-going host of the tiki bar. Together they became a pair — one to keep watch, one to keep the party going.

When we found the design, we knew it belonged at Selecao: playful, a little bit different, and made with the same love for 3D printing as everything else in our shop. We partnered with the artist to bring it to you, added a 16-color LED so your tiki can go from cozy amber to full luau neon, and set it on a natural wood base to finish it off.
